Another day, another lipstick. And I’m not even close to being done yet. Today we’re sticking to drugstore (and affordable) lippies with the new NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipsticks. Available in 24 shades and ringing it at $10 CAD each, these are a fantastic option for adding some new colours to your repertoire for the fall.
I have all but 2 of the shades and couldn’t wait to dive in and swatch them for you so you can find your next pick!
These lipsticks are throwing it back to the OG lipsticks, going vintage and focusing on a creamy feel and bold colour payoff. These lipsticks dry to a velvety, almost matte finish that feels surprisingly light on the lips. I clock wear time at about 4-5 hours before you will need to reapply, and you will experience some transfer with these.
If you’re looking for colour, the NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipsticks are definitely what you’re going to want to get your hands on this season. The payoff is incredible, with extremely bold, opaque colour. Be careful with application, because with such strong colour you’re going to want to be really precise. I would suggest starting with a liner for perfect full coverage. Anyways, the pigmentation on these is pretty incredible, and with 24 different shades to choose from I have no doubt you’ll be able to find something to suit most of your needs. There are quite a few nude and deep shades, as well as a few classic reds and pinks to round the selection off. Also, fair warning, some of the deeper shades – heck, most of the shades – do have a bit of a stain to them.
And now… On to the swatches, because I know that’s what you’re really here for.
A few standout shades for me include Bombshell (which is a gorgeous magenta), Cocktail Hour (a killer red with a bit of shimmer that might just come in handy for my Halloween costume) and Darling (a pretty nude pink which is great for daily wear). What shades are you interested in?
Have you tried out any of the NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipsticks yet? What other lipsticks have you been loving so far?

Hey guys! I made another video, another first – here are my August favourites. I definitely stuck to a bit of a skincare theme last month and was really focused on repairing and trying to keep my skin healthy with everything that goes on during the summer (hint: there’s a lot). Late nights and lots of activities really take their toll on the skin, so I’ve been focused on products that help to perk my skin up and give it a bit more life.

I told you my lipstick obsession has been (nearly) satiated recently with all of the amazing new products that have been finding their way to my desk. One of the latest? The new L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Matte lipsticks, the newest addition to the Colour Riche fam. These richly pigmented lipsticks are currently available in 12 shades, which I have swatches of!
I love the feel of these lipsticks. They’re creamy and soft, giving the lips a lot of moisture while you wear. I’ve been a really big fan of mattes lately, and I love the shade range that they have available in them – you have a few nudes, some pretty pinks, gorgeous reds and a couple of magenta/fuchsia shades to finish it off. I find that these set to a more satin finish and have a bit more sheen than most mattes that I’ve been used to, however I found that I can easily give them a more matte look by finishing them off with a quick pat with a tissue; it softens the sheen and mattifies really quickly.
I found that I get about 3-4 hours of wear time before I have to reapply, with some transfer when drinking and eating, so they don’t completely set. Reapplication is nice and smooth however, and you just need a bit to touch up without having to worry about drying or crumbling. These do have the same scent that you’ll find in other L’Oreal lipsticks, which I know some people aren’t the biggest fan of. I really kind of like the scent though – it reminds me of trying out my mom’s lipsticks when I was younger!
To make things even better, they’ve come out with 8 matte lipliners that go along with these shades.
What do you think of the new L’Oreal Paris Colour Matte Riche lipsticks and shade range? What matte lipsticks have you been loving lately?

Can a girl every really have too many eye shadow palettes? Judging by my collection, the answer is no. I hope. The latest addition to my collection is the Sephora PRO Cool Palette. With these (also available in Warm shades and Editorial shades), Sephora set out to create high performance palettes that can be used by makeup artists and enthusiasts alike.
Lately I’ve tended to gravitate to rosier hues, which makes the Cool palette the perfect match for my beauty routine. Each palette contains 28 pigmented shades – quite the collection. This allows for a lot more versatility within the palette and the ability to create many different looks. Having all of these shades in one convenient palette is a big sell for me, as I like to play around with different variations on looks. The shades combine matte, shimmer and satin finishes for even more versatility.
I found that the matte shades are a bit powdery, with a few of the lighter shades being a little chalkier, but they do apply really smoothly and I find that this works a little better for blending, especially since they are quite pigmented. The satin shades are absolutely gorgeous and have a ton of pigment. They’re almost creamy in application and I love how these wear. The “sparkly” shades, Seashell and Moon, were a bit of a disappointment. I found that they lacked pigmentation and the sparkle didn’t really work, as you can see in the swatches below.
And guys, I really just have to rave about the second row of shadows (Ballet – Croquis) because for me, they are the stuff that dreams are made of. They’re all seriously gorgeous shades and flow together so nicely – this row could be a smaller palette all on its own.
And check out the look I created using the Sephora PRO Cool Palette:
