If you follow me here or on my social channels, it’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Kat Von D’s beauty line. I love the formulation of the products and that you can tell a lot of work and thought goes into every aspect, from the colours used and the pigmentation to the packaging of the products themselves – I really think that KVD’s personality shows through. The new Kat Von D Pastel Goth palette ($51 CAD at Sephora) is no different.

The palette contains 8 pastel shades, which may seem like a slight departure from the slightly heavier, bolder hues that KVD tends to go for. That being said, these pastels take on a bit of a moodier quality, with a smoky feel to them – they add a bit of edginess to the typical pastels we’ve become accustomed to seeing.

I was almost worried that these shades would take on a bit of a chalky feel, but then I remembered who I was dealing with. The shadows apply really smoothly and blend really nicely, which means no powdery feel or the shadows sitting on the skin. They all have really nice pigment and give good colour for pastels; Doom and Gloom are real standout shades and are incredibly pigmented. I did have a little trouble with Meow as it didn’t apply as smoothly – it went on nicely but didn’t give as much colour as the other shades.

The shades can be seen applied – from left to right: Star (matte daffodil yellow), Clementine (matte peach), Meow (matte lilac), Dope (matte lavender), Doom (matte sky blue), Gloom (matte meadow green), Dagger (matte stone gray), and Skull (matte pure white).

Oh, and as a side note, the Alchemist palette works wonders with this one – definitely worth giving a try! What do you think of the Kat Von D Pastel Goth palette?

The highly anticipated Too Faced x Kat Von D Better Together collaboration has finally arrived, and I couldn’t be any more excited. Let’s be real here; when I learned that two of my favourite brands would be coming together to create on killer collection, I knew that I was going to have to check it out. Of course, it was love at first sight – especially when it came to the Ultimate Eye Collection. Read on for more details and swatches of the Too Faced x Kat Von D Better Together collection!

Now of course, I have to start with the Too Faced x Kat Von D Better Together Ultimate Eye Collection, because it’s easily the most covetable piece of the collection, and shows off a beautiful “marriage” between the two brands, combining Too Faced’s bubbly, pink personality with Kat Von D’s bold, edgy look. The heart shaped packaging actually breaks into two separate, six shade palettes. The set is finished off with a full-size Better Than Sex Mascara and Tattoo Liner.

The Too Faced side comes in a pink half heart, with shadows housed in heart-shaped cutouts, and shades that are right on par for TF. Soft, matte pink & cream shades start off this set, with a ton of pigment and no chalky feeling, followed by 4 warm, brown-based shimmers. Heart of Gold and Better Together are stunners, and BFF & Lovely totally fall into Too Faced territory. Power Couple didn’t apply as smoothly as the other shades, but will make for a nice shading shadow.

KVD’s palete takes on a bit of an edgier feel, natch, with 6 shades that balance out Too Faced’s softer look. The bold shadows are packed with pigment and will definitely be fun to play with. They’re smooth and soft when applied, with Yours, Pur Vida and Devotion giving a colour-packed, matte finish. Swoon will, quite literally, make you swoon with its unbelieveable colour payoff; one quick swipe had me blown away with its pigmentation. Lovestruck didn’t do as much for me, with super sheer colour, although it will make for a nice inner corner shade.

The collection also includes the Too Faced x Kat Von D Better Together Cheek & Lip Makeup Bag Set. The set of four mini products comes housed in a way-too-cute, double sided makeup bag that features Kat & Jerrod’s beloved furbabies, Piaf and Clover.

The set comes with minis of some fave Too Faced & KVD products (in mostly exclusive shades), making this a great set to pick up, if not just for the bag alone. KVD has included two new shades of her best-selling lip products, the Studded Kiss Lipstick in Muse and Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in XO, while Too Faced had the face covered with the Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo in Rosy Glow and a new shade of Love Flush Long-Lasting Blush in So Happy Together.

Too Faced’s Beter Than Sex Mascara and Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner are definitely the perfect intros to both brands, so if you’re new to them and want to give them a try, this is a great way to do it!

If there’s one thing I know about Kat Von D beauty, especially after chatting with makeup artist Erik de Soto, it’s that every single product has been developed and tested to be of quality that Kat herself can be proud of. Vegan/cruelty-free makeup has come a long way – there was a time when payoff, shades & options available weren’t what you would hope for, but with lines like this the products are easily on par, if not better, to other non-vegan options.

For fall 2016, KVD has decided to expand on her Lock-It offerings, making it easier than ever to find the perfect components to create your most flawless complexion. So, what does Kat Von D have in store for us?

1. An expansion on the best-selling Lock-It Foundation ($47 CAD) lineup. With new packaging and the addition of 13 new shades (for a total of 30), KVD is making it easy to find your match – when you’re at either end of the skin tone spectrum, it can be a bit of a task to find the shade that accurately matches. The addition of these new shades, with various undertones, provides more options. Mo options, no problems.

2. Complexion perfection is just one step closer with the new Lock-It Concealer Creme ($34 CAD). Super pigmented, high coverage and nice & creamy, these cover imperfections in a flash and hide dark circles. They’re also perfect for highlighting & contouring – Erik suggests picking up 3 shades (one that matches your complexion, one darker & one lighter) and using these to shape your face

3. KVD is also adding in one more essential product with the new Lock-It Setting Powder ($39 CAD, not pictured). Completely translucent, and perfect for any skin tone, this loose powder is unbelievably lightweight with a matte finish that helps to blur the skin for an even smoother look.

The new Artistry Brush Collection is stunning and amazing – you’re going to want to get your hands on these gorgeous brushes. They’re soft and lush, with 100% cruelty-free bristles and stiletto-shaped handles that are not only super chic, but functional as well – Erik mentioned that these can be used as spatulas for blending products together.

4. The Lock-It Foundation Brush ($43) has been sculpted to fit into the contours of the face, ensuring even, all-over application that gets into every corner. Blending is also easy with the thick, full bristles.

5. The perfect companion to the new concealer creme, the Lock-It Edge Concealer Brush has a sculpted head to make precise, concentrated application easy. The brush is also perfect for contouring with its smooth edge – apply a deeper concealer in use the edge to blend up and into the skin.

6. Finish off your face by applying powder with the full, soft Lock-It Setting Powder Brush. The long, rounded brush picks up just the right amount of powder and evenly distributes it over the skin.

7. Fans of baking will definitely fall hard for the Lock-It Precision Powder Brush. An arched edge with dense bristles allows for precise application – apply a layer of setting powder over concealer, allow it to bake for a few minutes, then brush it off to lock the makeup in.

The new Lock-It offerings (aside from the foundation addition, available October 2016) will be available in July 2016 at Sephora.

toronto fashion week, fashion week, toronto style, toronto fashion week fall 2016, fall 2016 fashion

Toronto Fashion Week is only 1 week away! Can you believe it’s so close? I’m always eager to see what the designers will be showing on the runway for next season – we have some amazing talent, and it’s always great to get some inspiration. But of course, my favourite part is always heading backstage to see the amazing looks that Maybelline, Redken and Essie come up with! I love getting some beauty inspo that I can translate into every day wear and incorporate into my look. I’ll be hitting up a few shows next week & spending some time backstage, so make sure you follow me on Twitter (@linerglttrgloss), Instagram (@linerglttrgloss) and Snapchat (deetommy) for live updates!

Anyways, Fashion Week is always a super busy and tiring time for everyone. Between heading to shows, checking out events and after parties & working, looking and feeling your best isn’t always easy! I’ve pulled together some of my Toronto Fashion Week beauty essentials that I’m planning on taking full advantage of to make sure I’m feeling fresh all week long. What are yours?

kat von d color correcting eyeshadow primer, kat von d eyeshadow primer, eyeshadow primer, what should i use to prime my eyelines, benefit best night ever kit, benefit survival kit, benefit pinch provisions, pinch provisions, benefit the porefessional matte rescue, benefit matte rescue, what to do for oily skin, shiny skin, oily skin help, mattifying gel, clinique pep-start, clinique eye cream, pep start, quo by orly, quo by orly color amp'd, at home gel polish, how to make nail polish last longer, sephora blotting papers, sephora cool mint blotting papers, blotting papers for oily skin, sephora i may not be perfect but my makeup is, cute makeup bag, sephora makeup bag, sephora breakups to makeup, NYX setting spray, affordable setting spray, NYX matte finish setting spray, matte setting spray, how to make makeup last longer

So, what will I be using to look great during Toronto Fashion Week?

  • Quo by ORLY Color Amp’d  – Is there anything worse than a chipped nail or peeling polish when you’re on the go and don’t have time for a touch up? This 2-step mani is quick drying and long-lasting, reminiscent of a gel mani without the UV curing, lasting 75% longer than traditional manis. The best part? The polish is “flexible,” meaning that nails are smudge proof while drying.
  • Benefit the POREfessional Matte Rescue – This new release from Benefit has quickly become one of my must have products, and it will definitely be coming in handy to keep shine at bay during TFW! This lightweight gel mattifies and blurs pores for smooth, shine-free skin. I love throwing this on before makeup, with a little added boost from the POREfessional (the original) on top, for the perfect base. I love how refreshing it feels, and I’ve noticed that it really does help to prevent my skin from getting shiny throughout the day. LOVE IT!
  • Clinique Pep-Start – Late nights, early morning and running around all day definitely takes its toll, and tired-looking eyes are a dead giveaway when you’re not feeling 100%. This eye cream, with a blend of seven peptides and other soothing & energizing ingredients, is the perfect pick me up for those tired eyes. I love the packaging; you simply pop the top, give the tube a squeeze, and roll the cream on using the ball-shaped applicator. Bonus: Keep it in the fridge. The feeling of the cool applicator and cream will be extra soothing!
  • Benefit Best.Night.Ever Kit – This kit, created with Pinch Provisions, makes sure you don’t have to worry about any beauty or wardrobe malfunctions. Complete with hair spray, emergency tape, bobby pins, a brush/comb combo, deodorant towelette, hair tie, breath drops, mirror and a sweet little tube of the POREfessional, this purse-sized kit will keep you going all day & night. It even contains a pair of flats, because we all know there’s nothing worse than trying to walk in a pair of sky-high heels at the end of the night.
  • Sephora Blotting Papers (Cooling Mint) – This perfectly sized pack of blotting papers is exactly what you need when you’re feeling a little worn out. The cooling mint sensation helps to refresh and soothe while a couple of quick dabs sops up oil so you look like you just got a touch up.
  • Kat Von D Color Correcting Eyeshadow Primer – Making my eyeshadow last has always been a priority for me, and Kat Von D’s new primer is making this easier than ever. The stick primer, available in different shades to match your skin tone, applies & blends in nicely and helps to even out the skin tone so shadow applies evenly. It has a bit of a tacky finish, meaning eyeshadow sticks and lasts!
  • NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray – When I’m on the go, I want my makeup to look good all day, natch, and this setting spray is just what I need. A few quick spritzes in the morning before I leave the house are all I need to keep my face looking fresh, and the mattifying formula is water-based, so I don’t have to worry about my skin drying out.
  • Sephora Breakups to Make Up Bag – Of course, I need something to store everything I need in and to keep it all together. This supa dupa cute bag is a great size, and the slogan is perfect, non?

What products do you count on to keep you looking great when you’re on the go?
