I’m going to start this off by letting you know that I’m an absolute Halloween fanatic. October 31st is, hands down, my favourite day of the year, and I usually start choosing my costume for next year as soon as the holiday has passed. This year, I’m finally being a mermaid, and completely DIYing my costume (I can share deets on this if anyone’s interested!). In the meantime, I wanted to share this subtle Candy Corn Manicure. I do realize that not everyone gets as worked up about Halloween as I do or prefer to take a more subtle approach to Halloween beauty; this easy nail art will give you a chance to get into the spirit without going overboard.
Oh, and did I mention it’s easy? Because it really is. My dad could probably pull this off.
Start off by prepping your nails with base coat to smooth (Formula X Color Corrector is perfect for this) and one-two coats of white polish (I used OPI Alpine Snow for this one). Prep your cuticles with a hydrating moisturizer or apply white glue or a cuticle guard to make clean up easier.
Next, take a triangular cosmetics sponge (you can pick these up at the dollar store) and trim it to get a piece that’s similar in width to your nails. Starting from the top, apply a wide stripe of polish in white, followed by a soft yellow (I used OPI Infinite Shine in Bee Mine Forever) and finished with a stripe of a soft orange shade (Essie Gel Couture in Looks to Thrill), layering them like a neopolitan ice cream that will fit from base to tip of your nails. Dab on a piece of paper a couple of times to blend the colours together a little, then gently dab onto your nails to transfer the polish and create the candy corn look. Reapply the polish to the sponge as needed, and try to do a couple of coats to build the colour. Once finished, apply a top coat (Seche Vite dries quickly and locks in colour) to blend the polish even more and secure the look.
Will you be trying this Candy Corn Manicure or any Halloween nail art?
Ok, I just had to share this one. At Desigual’s SS 2016 NYFW show, buzz was created for more than just the gorgeous, youthful fashions. Makeup artists brought one of our fave social trends, Snapchat filters, to the runway, recreating some of our most loved on the models faces.
The butterfly & flower crowns, dog, bumblebee and deer filters all made an appearance, for something we’ve always wished was a reality – Snapchat filters IRL. And with Halloween a little over a month away, I’m sure these will bring some easy costume inspo to many of you.
I know, I’ve been slacking – my life is crazy, I’m still adjusting to my new work situation and trying to find a balance between this and everything else going on in my life. I have lots of posts ready to go – winter collections, giveaways, reviews, gift guides… They’re all coming, I promise!!
In the meantime — Halloween is only a couple more days away (eek!) and as it is my favourite day of the year, I thought I would share a few spooky beauty looks to help those of you who are still hunting down the perfect costume or who need to give theirs a boost. Every year, MAKE UP FOR EVER artists come up with some amazing Halloween beauty looks, and of course this year is no different. Since makeup is one of the things that can truly take a fantastic costume to the next level, they’ve pulled some of their favourite looks to help you either #GetGlammed or #GetGhouled this Halloween. Take a look below and let me know which is your favourite! If you would like to know the products used or steps to get any of these looks, let me know as well and I’ll be sure to share them!

Guess what… I’ve got more fun (and way too easy) Halloween nails to share with you! This time, they come in the form of Kiss Nail Dress and imPRESS Press-On Manicures. This month, Kiss and Broadway nails debuted these super fun Halloween designs so you can get the perfect themed mani in a snap. Kiss Nail Dress can be used on finger or toe nails, depending on your mood, and come in the form of appliques. Simply select the size that best fits your nail, apply pressing down and folding the end over the tip of the nail, and file off the excess. imPRESS Nails are just as, if not easier to apply and give you length to go along with the fun design. Adhesive is already attached to the back of these faux nails, so all you need to do is peel off the tab and attach firmly to clean, dry nails – I’m already completely obsessed with these and can’t wait to rock the Halloween versions!
Take a look at some of the designs below and let me know what you think!
