OCTOBER IS HERE. Which means Halloween is really not far off…. Which makes me really excited. You see, Halloween is hands down my favourite day/time (I say time because it kinda lasts more than one day with parties & decorating and what not). I love to decorate, plan costumes and of course, throw a Halloween party. This year I’m throwing a party for friends at my new place and I really can’t wait to get decorating. I firmly believe that it’s totally alright to get all of your decorations up as soon as Thanksgiving passes which is why this post is going up ASAP – you’ve gotta get on it now to be ready for the 31st!
Since I’m such a Halloween addict I’ve pulled together some of my top picks from Amazon (ps. don’t forget to sign up for a Prime trial for fast shipping & better prices!) to make sure you’re ready for your own monster mash. I’ve broken it down into a few categories so you can make sure you have all of your bases covered. It’s time – get into my Halloween Party Prep must haves:
A Killer Costume
Deets: Wonder Woman, Sloth, Oktoberfest Girl, Sally, Eleven, Voodoo Doll, Belle, Ghostbuster, Fawn
Before you even think about getting into the party planning you’ve gotta make sure you’re going to look amazing. If you haven’t already spent the past few months trying to decide what you’re going to be now’s the time to do so. You only have a few weeks to make sure your costume is going to wow everyone so get to it. You can try something that you know will be a hit this year (think Wonder Woman, Ghostbusters, Belle) or go with something a little more fun or classic.
Deets: Scar tattoo stickers, Lip Gloss, hair chalk, nail decals, rainbow wig, Daenerys Targaryen wig
The right makeup can totally finish off a costume – make sure you have everything you need to complete your look. Not so into dressing up? That’s cool too. Throw on some fun nail decals and dark lipstick to get in the spirit.
Deets: Spiderweb mantle cover, lanterns, ghost curtain, replica skull, candelabra, wall decal
Now that you have your costume out of the way it’s time to set the mood for the party. Do you want something spooky and scary or a little more fun an playful? How about a theme? Last year I decorated my place
Deets: I’m Here For the Boos glasses, Skull shot glass, I’m A Witch glasses, Wine bottle labels, candy corn flask, Halloween straws
If you’re planning on serving up some spooky concoctions make sure you’re doing so in style. Find fun glassware that fits the mood and accessorize with cocktail napkins, straws and fun drink labels.
How do you get ready for a Halloween party?

I’m going to start this off by letting you know that I’m an absolute Halloween fanatic. October 31st is, hands down, my favourite day of the year, and I usually start choosing my costume for next year as soon as the holiday has passed. This year, I’m finally being a mermaid, and completely DIYing my costume (I can share deets on this if anyone’s interested!). In the meantime, I wanted to share this subtle Candy Corn Manicure. I do realize that not everyone gets as worked up about Halloween as I do or prefer to take a more subtle approach to Halloween beauty; this easy nail art will give you a chance to get into the spirit without going overboard.
Oh, and did I mention it’s easy? Because it really is. My dad could probably pull this off.
Start off by prepping your nails with base coat to smooth (Formula X Color Corrector is perfect for this) and one-two coats of white polish (I used OPI Alpine Snow for this one). Prep your cuticles with a hydrating moisturizer or apply white glue or a cuticle guard to make clean up easier.
Next, take a triangular cosmetics sponge (you can pick these up at the dollar store) and trim it to get a piece that’s similar in width to your nails. Starting from the top, apply a wide stripe of polish in white, followed by a soft yellow (I used OPI Infinite Shine in Bee Mine Forever) and finished with a stripe of a soft orange shade (Essie Gel Couture in Looks to Thrill), layering them like a neopolitan ice cream that will fit from base to tip of your nails. Dab on a piece of paper a couple of times to blend the colours together a little, then gently dab onto your nails to transfer the polish and create the candy corn look. Reapply the polish to the sponge as needed, and try to do a couple of coats to build the colour. Once finished, apply a top coat (Seche Vite dries quickly and locks in colour) to blend the polish even more and secure the look.
Will you be trying this Candy Corn Manicure or any Halloween nail art?
Ok, I just had to share this one. At Desigual’s SS 2016 NYFW show, buzz was created for more than just the gorgeous, youthful fashions. Makeup artists brought one of our fave social trends, Snapchat filters, to the runway, recreating some of our most loved on the models faces.
The butterfly & flower crowns, dog, bumblebee and deer filters all made an appearance, for something we’ve always wished was a reality – Snapchat filters IRL. And with Halloween a little over a month away, I’m sure these will bring some easy costume inspo to many of you.
How cute are these?
I know, I’ve been slacking – my life is crazy, I’m still adjusting to my new work situation and trying to find a balance between this and everything else going on in my life. I have lots of posts ready to go – winter collections, giveaways, reviews, gift guides… They’re all coming, I promise!!
In the meantime — Halloween is only a couple more days away (eek!) and as it is my favourite day of the year, I thought I would share a few spooky beauty looks to help those of you who are still hunting down the perfect costume or who need to give theirs a boost. Every year, MAKE UP FOR EVER artists come up with some amazing Halloween beauty looks, and of course this year is no different. Since makeup is one of the things that can truly take a fantastic costume to the next level, they’ve pulled some of their favourite looks to help you either #GetGlammed or #GetGhouled this Halloween. Take a look below and let me know which is your favourite! If you would like to know the products used or steps to get any of these looks, let me know as well and I’ll be sure to share them!
What are you being for Halloween??
