My hair has always been a bit of a pain for me. It’s really fine, which makes styling a bit of an issue at times, and I’ve always been envious of girls with long, thick hair that always seems to fall perfectly. You might remember that I went on my first “Viviscal journey” a couple of years ago using the supplements and this time I decided to see how well the new Viviscal Gorgeous Growth Densifying range works with it to add more fullness and strength to my mane.

The new range was designed to work in tandem with the Viviscal Extra Strength hair growth supplements (which seriously do work) which means that they help to promote thickness and shine while the supplements strengthen the hair from inside the shaft. The line contains ingredients like Biotin, Keratin and Zinc which means they really get to work and help to protect against stressors from the environment & styling, keep colour safe and help to promote healthier hair growth.

So, what’s in the line? It’s made up of three products – the Gorgeous Growth Densifying Shampoo, Conditioner and Elixir – that all work together to form this hair-boosting trifecta. The shampoo and conditioner are both lightweight and smell great. They’ve also been gentle on my coloured hair! The Elixir is my favourite product of the three. It’s a fantastic product that helps to give my mane a nice volume boost and never feels greasy or weighs it down. It was easy to add into my routine as well; all I have to do is run a few drops through my hair when it’s damp before styling. I also like to use it as an oil on dry hair to smooth it down and add some shine.

Overall the Viviscal Gorgeous Growth Densifying range has been a fantastic addition to my haircare routine; along with the Viviscal Extra Strength supplements. I’ve definitely noticed an increase in the thickness of my hair and it feels so much stronger!  Have you ever tried Viviscal? Both Viviscal Gorgeous Growth Densifying range and Extra Strength supplements are available at Shoppers Drug Mart or www.viviscal.ca.

Lately, I’ve been giving a lot more thought to the products that I use and what goes into them. What we use on our bodies goes in our bodies, so to speak, and more and more companies are making it easier to make choices that we can feel confident about when it comes to purchasing these. When I heard of the new Matrix Biolage R.A.W. (click through for more info) line, a collection of hair products designed to be “Real, Authentic and Wholesome” I knew I had to give it a try.

The collection of shampoos, conditioners and clay masks was created with the intention of developing a lineup of products with an origin that is as natural as possible. They contain amazing natural ingredients, like coconut oil, kaolin clay, quinoa husk and black sesame, to provide hair with a wholesome treatment that doesn’t take away from performance. The products all have up to 95% natural origin, and are free of silicones, sulfates (a big one for me, as someone who colours their hair) and parabens. And, to make things even better, all of the packaging is 100% recyclable  and made from consumer recycled materials.

I’ve tried out all three pairs of the Matrix Biolage R.A.W. shampoo and conditioner, and I’ve had a really positive experience with all three; I can honestly say that they don’t compromise on performance, and leave the hair feeling great. I’m really enamored with the Uplift Shampoo and Conditioner. I have fine hair that tends to fall flat, especially after the second and third day, but but with the use of this I’ve actually noticed that my hair has a bit more lift and maintains its body after a few days, which is key for me. Black sesame and grapefruit help to purify, while kiwi and kaolin clay condition without weighing the hair down at the root. I’m also a fan of using the Nourish and Recover pairs for the few washes before I colour my hair – they help to restore moisture and softness that makes colouring easier and more effective, while minimizing damage.

They also all have amazing natural (and eco-friendly!) scents – it really says something about the product when you can smell the ingredients.

Overall, are these RAW products a success? I’m very happy to report that the Matrix Biolage R.A.W. collection lives up to their intentions. The ingredients that were sourced help to provide amazing benefits for the hair, while maintaining a wholesome balance. I’m a big fan of these and will definitely continue using them to keep my hair healthy.

GUYS! It’s officially spring, which makes me one happy lil’ chicky. Granted, the weather may not be caught up as of yet (we’ve got freezing rain & negative temperatures on deck in Toronto), but this doesn’t mean that we can’t start getting into spring beauty. I’m all set to start giving myself a boost and I’ve pulled together some products that are sure to get you feeling warm and glowy so you can shake off winter.

  • Kérastase PARIS Fondant Densité ($49 CAD) – I’ll be honest, during the winter months I don’t pay as much attention to my hair. It’s dry, there’s a ton of static going around, and I feel like when I do style it, it just tends to fall flat. This rinse out treatment is great for fine or thin hair that needs a little somethin’, with hyaluronic acid and intra-cylane to help plumpify and strengthen the hair.
  • The Body Shop Drops of Light Pure Healthy Brightening Serum ($38 CAD) – Need a skin boost? This lightweight serum might be just what you need. It’s fast absorbing, smells great, and promises to reduce dark spots. You’ll immediately notice an improvement in hydration, and healthier, more toned skin will be yours after continued use.
  • Formula X x Cupcakes and Cashmere polishes ($16 CAD ea) – This month’s Color Curators collection by Formula X features three polishes created in collaboration with Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere. Peach Tea and Latte Run, shown here, are absolutely perfect for spring with their delicate tones!
  • MAC Powder Blush in Let’s Be Friends ($26 CAD) – Your cheeks are going to fall for this hot pink blush from the Flamingo Park collection. This satin brush gives off a killer pop of colour that will have you feeling the warmth in no time.
  • Vichy Idéalia Day Care Smoothing and Illuminating Cream ($45 CAD) – Dull skin will find a friend in this new cream from Vichy, which helped to improve radiance and skin texture while reducing the look of fine lines and pores. Natural antioxidants help to fight back against the first signs of aging so your skin will be looking perky and fresh for spring.
  • Benefit Dandelion Shy Beam ($34 CAD) – When you’re ready to restore a little life to your face, this nude pink highlighter is going to become a welcome addition to your makeup bag. This matte highlighter helps to add a pretty pink glow – dab it on your cheek & brow bones and blend in for a natural look that instantly brightens your face!
  • Mèreadesso Beautiful Body Balm ($54 CAD) – Now that you’re looking good up top, it’s time to give your body a little love. This non-greasy lotion helps to tone the skin (because we all know bathing suit season is just around the corner) and helps with stretch marks & scarring with a blend of 8 vitamins and minerals.

I’m all set to get spring ready – are you? What products are you using to brighten up after the winter?
