I got back from my va-cay in Orlando a little over a week ago and ever since my lips have been a mess.  Between the dryness of the plane during my flights and the frigid weather (of course, I was not happy to come back to -30 temperatures when I returned), they’ve turned into a dry, chapped, flaky mess. Let’s be real here — ain’t nobody got time for that.  Take a look at a few of my fave – some new –  lip care products to help get your pout ready for all of spring’s fun shades (more on this to come!).

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time for a little getaway with your sweetie.  Although I was a little bit early, I took off to Niagara Falls this past weekend with my boyfriend for a cute little escape and for the chance to have some fun adventures and alone time.  It was a ton of fun, and even though we didn’t wait for Valentine’s Day, I loved having a chance to get away from home for a little while with him!

When you’re getting ready for a Valentine’s Day getaway (or just a romantic escape in general), you have to make sure that you pick the right items for the weekend.  Personally, beauty on the go for a weekend with my SO is all about looking pretty & fresh-faced without too much effort – aka no makeup-makeup!  I’ve picked 4 of my favourite Clarin’s products for a gorgeous fresh-faced look that will bring out your natural beauty when you’re on the go.  Read on to learn more about them and receive free shipping on your purchase at clarins.ca!

1. Clarins Beauty Flash Balm ($50 CAD): This balm is perfect for giving skin a quick, glowing boost.  Once this balm has been patted (not rubbed) on to the face, the skin looks instantly brighter and more well rested.  I find that it works really well to balance out the skin and smoothes fine lines & pores.  It’s so perfect for prepping the skin for makeup application as well (not that you really need it), helping it to set perfectly & last!

2. Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara ($27 CAD): For the eyes I’m all about big flirty lashes that really bring attention to you!  This mascara has the best of both worlds – length, volume & curl – for lashes that are absolutely gorgeous & perfect for shooting a suggestive wink your SO’s way.

3. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Candy Flush ($20 CAD): A killer gloss is a must-have for Valentine’s Day, natch.  This gloss is smooth, not sticky, and gives a beautiful flush to the lips.  The colour isn’t too intense and is actually quite natural looking, just giving your lips a gorgeous, shimmery boost. Not only that, it helps to keep your lips moisturized & smells/tastes sweet, so your guy is going to have no problem going in for some V Day kisses.

4. Clarins Blush Prodige in Soft Peach ($32 CAD): The perfect finishing touch?  A pretty flush on the apples of your cheeks.  This blush is a beautiful, natural-looking peach shade with a hint of golden shimmer throughout to warm up your look for an instantly warmer, healthy looking appearance.

Combined, these four products make the perfect on the go beauty look which I think is just right for a romantic getaway this Valentine’s Day.

And I now have a little bonus for you – receive free shipping on your order at Clarins.ca when you use the code DEE at checkout!  Will you be picking up any of my beauty bag on the go essentials?

I absolutely love all of the fun that comes with the holidays.  Between Christmas shopping, catching up with friends and family and multiple celebrations, it’s hard to find time to relax!  The combination of late nights, endless food and cold weather leaves my skin feeling a little worn out and tired during this time of year.  It can definitely use a nice boost to breathe some life back into it, and I’m sure I’m not alone.

Clarins has consistently turned out some of my favourite skincare products.  I’ve always been really happy with the results that they provide, and I know that today’s giveaway, featuring the brand, is sure to put a little jump back into your skincare step this season.

Glowing, radiant skin is something that you’ll be proud to show off when you run into your friends (or, heaven forbid, an ex) over the holidays, and Clarins has offered two fantastic products to help you give your skin a boost when the holidays start to wreak a little havoc:

Clarins Eye Revive Beauty Flash ($51.00 CAD): Clarins’ quick ‘lift” for tired eyes—with refreshing Rose Petals, Lily and White Tea extracts—releases toxins to minimize dark circles, tighten eye contours, decongest and de-puff. Hydrates and protects the delicate skin around eyes, while chasing-away fine lines. Keep it in your emergency kit.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm ($50.00 CAD): The ultimate pick-me-up for tired, stressed skin—Clarins best-selling radiance maker helps eliminate signs of fatigue in a flash! Instantly moisturizes, brightens and tightens facial contours so skin looks rested and relaxed. Olive and Witch Hazel extracts help smooth the skin’s surface, diffusing the look of lines and wrinkles. Soothing Bisabolol helps restore skin’s youthful glow. Preps skin for perfect make-up application and hours of luminous wear.

Yep, sounds like both of these would help to perk you back up after a long night (and a couple of cocktails).   The combination of these two products ensures that skin looks brighter and well-rested, even when you’re not.  Want to win this Holiday Radiance package from Clarins?  Enter via the Rafflecopter form below.  Good luck!

Hi everyone!  Later this week I’m going to be taking on to sunny Las Vegas for my friend’s bachelorette.  I’m sure this is where the whole “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” thing is going to come into play!  Anyways, since I know lots of people are planning to go away right now (a ton of my co-workers are running away from Canada this week too) and summer is right around the corner I thought I would share some posts on getting ready for the sun!  Keep checking back to make sure you don’t miss any of them, and be sure to comment to let me know how you get ready for a vacation/summer!

Anyways, the first thing I realized I needed to take care of before I go away is the lovely shade of Casper I’ve turned over the winter.  Don’t get me wrong — I really do love pale skin at times, but the fact that I would literally glow when wearing a bathing suit and surrounded by tons of tan people just doesn’t really appeal to me.  As a pale lady I’ve always been a little bit afraid of self-tanning but decided to give it a try with a couple of products.  I decided to go with two different products – one for the face and one for the body – so that I could tailor the results to my liking.

For the face I was really excited to give the new Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster ($30) a try.  The face was definitely the area that I was most worried about applying self-tanner to as I figured a mistake would be most noticeable there.  Let me just say right now that with this product I really didn’t need to be worried at all!  It’s really simple to use – you simply add 2-3 drops of this “oil” like substance to your daily moisturizer depending on what kind of a look you’re hoping to achieve.  I started off by adding 3 drops to my night cream before going to bed every night until I developed a nice golden glow.  I was a little about waking up with an orange face the first time I used it but was really happy to see that the change in colour is very gradual.  I’ve since moved down to about 1-2 drops a night to help maintain it now that I’ve found the perfect colour (I was using 3 drops for about 1.5 weeks to get to the level I’m at).  This stuff has definitely made it to the top of my favourite new products of 2014 list so far.  I would also like to point out the fact that one of my friends told me it looked like I had an amazing tan the other day… Something that’s never happened to me before!

For the body I turned to St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse ($40).  Again, being a self-tanning newbie I was a little freaked out about seeing how this would turn out on my skin – I’ve seen too many streaky, self-tanning disasters to make me think twice about giving this a go.  I’ve heard nothing but good things about St. Tropez so I figured I would just take the leap and try it.  First of all, I really like the idea of applying the self tanner in mousse form.  It’s easy to apply and the tint to it ensure you can see where you’ve applied it so you don’t up looking streaky or spotty.  The St. Tropez applicator mitt is also a must.  It allows you to buff the mousse into the skin so you know you’re getting it applied properly while keeping the palms of your hands clean.  I’ve applied it a couple of times since the colour doesn’t develop intensely (there is a darker tan version available if you’re looking for more colour) and will probably do it again before I go away just for a bit more of a glow.  I like to apply it before bed (make sure you give it time to dry before climbing into bed or getting dressed so you don’t stain anything) so that the tan can develop overnight before showering – they suggest waiting 8-10 hours before getting wet, and the longer you wait the better.  If you wanted to give this a try, just a quick tip – make sure you exfoliate and apply lotion before you start, especially to the knees, ankles, elbows and feet.  It will help to ensure a more even application so you can avoid streaks!

Anyways, so far the faux glow is going strong and I’m nearly prepped for Vegas.  Do you use self tanners?  What do you use?  Any tips to make the most of them?
