The best part of summer? Definitely getting to enjoy a little time relaxing on the beach. We’ve pulled together our top beauty & fashion picks to make your days by the lake even better.

Let your mane go wild and give it some beachy texture with Sun Bum Beach Formula Sea Spray. A few spritzes on damp hair will help enhance waves and volume while adding protection from UV rays and the elements, and adding a little bit of a leave-in treatment, like Herbal Essences Bio:Renew Argan Oil Infused Crème will keep it feeling soft.

Look stylish while staying cool and protected with a cute hat. Go wide brimmed for a luxe look or stay chic with a banded raffia cap, like the Tilley Women’s Raffia Hat while you relax on a lounger.

If you’re planning on spending the day in the sun, you’ve got to make sure your skin is protected. For your face, a lightweight sunscreen with a tint (Garnier Ombrelle Ultra Light Advanced Tinted Lotion SPF 60) or a mineral compact with protection (Bioderma Photoderm Compact SPF 50+) will give your skin light coverage while keeping it safe. If you’re planning on spending time in the water, make sure you protect your body as well by using a waterproof sunscreen (Vichy Ideal Soleil Sport SPF 60, $30) and reapplying throughout the day.

Make sure you bring everything along in a cute bag, like the TOMS Blue Spatter Denim All Day Tote ($95, which helps to provide a safe birth for a mother and baby in need). Pack a few Instagrammable must haves, like a round towel and fun inflatable flamingo, for the perfect beach shot.

While protecting your skin from the sun is a must, you can still rock a golden glow easily (minus the skin damage) thanks to the magic that is self tanner. Vita Liberata Ten Minute Tan ($49) gives you a natural looking tan in, you guessed it, ten minutes, while its advanced technology supports natural collagen protection.

What do you like to bring along for a day at the beach?

Take care of your skin in the winter with these products!

Guys. Winter is coming. The cold weather can be harsh on your skin, so today I’m sharing my winter skincare routine and the products that I’m going to be using during the colder months to keep my skin in good shape!

I like to stick to products that are going to be gentle on my skin while providing great moisture – skin tends to dry out during the colder months, so it’s important to stay hydrated! I like to kick things off by removing my makeup with Chanel Le Bi-Phase Visage face makeup remover. It quickly removes all of my makeup before I cleanse, so I can make sure everything comes off. I follow up with a quick clean using Consonant’s Natural Foaming Face Wash (all natural AND Canadian!) with my Clarisonic Aria (if you haven’t tried Clarisonic yet, add it to your wish list – your skin will thank you!).

Afterwards, it’s time to treat and hydrate. I start off by applying a few drops of Korres Golden Krocus Ageless Saffron Elixir, which helps to brighten and plump the skin, then Bioderma Hydrabio Creme to boost my hydration levels. Finally, a few dabs of Kat Burki Complete B Eye Creme Complex (at Murale) under the eyes helps to soften the skin around them and perk the undereye area up.

What products do you like to use in the colder months? What’s your winter skincare routine?

Summer may be winding down, but there’s still lots of time to take advantage of the beautiful weather and adventures that come with this time of year. When packing for a quickie getaway, it’s definitely important to minimize what you bring and pack a few key essentials that will get you through the trip! I’m sharing my favourite picks below – what are yours?

  • bliss triple oxygen radiance restoring mist – when you’re spending time traveling, whether it be by car, train or plane, there’s nothing worse than arriving at your destination and feeling like you need a complete refresher. This energizing face mist from bliss helps to wake your skin up, boost radiance, and freshens makeup so you can be ready to go as soon as your arrive.
  • Sephora Dry Clean Instant Dry Brush Cleaner Spray – Let’s face it – no one wants to waste precious vacation time cleaning their brushes while they’re away, but we always want our brushes feeling fresh for perfect application. This quick fix takes care of both of these; after giving your brush a couple of quick sprays, just sweep the brush over a tissue or towel to clear off surface residue. The best part? You don’t have to wait for your brush to dry.
  • Foreo Luna Play (at Murale) – Get ready to fall in love with this pocket-sized cleansing device. I’m sure you’ve already heard a ton about the Mini’s big sister, the original Luna; get ready to see the same cleansing action packed into this absolutely adorable version. While it still boasts the dual-zone layout, this smaller version comes pre-charged with 100 uses (this version is not rechargeable) and is perfect for a traveler.
  • MaskerAide All Eyes On Me Eye Gel Patches – I’m sure you’ve noticed I’m constantly singing MaskerAide’s praises, and they’ve made me a believer once again with their new eye gel patches. These larger sized gels fit comfortably under the eye, and after being worn for 15-30 minutes, leave the eyes looking brighter and refreshed, thanks to ingredients like their 100 Herb Complex and Hyaluronic Acid. If you need a quick refresh while you’re away, throw them on in the morning and feeling like a million bucks in half an hour.
  • Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Solution – Need to take it all off after a busy (or sweaty) day? Pack one of these travel sized bottles of Bioderma’s famed micellar water. A quick swipe or two of this lightweight solution removes makeup and leaves the skin feeling fresh & clean!
  • Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue Eye & Cheek Palette – Cut down on the makeup you pack with this multi-tasking palette. Complete with a 4 shadows, a liner shade, and two blushes, you have almost everything you need for a complete face, in neutral hues. Toss a BB cream & mascara in your bag, and you’ll be good to go!

What do you like to pack when going away?

Murale Spring, Murale Spring 2014

Hey beauties!  I’ve made it no secret that I’m a big fan of Murale. A little while back I shared some of their exciting spring launches (you can take a look here) and a few of these have found their way at the top of my list of favourites.  I’ve teamed up with Murale to offer one of you a chance to check out some of their most popular spring products (pictured above) so you can see what all the buzz is about.  What will the winner receive?

  • Smashbox Full Exposure Palette ($58) – This palette is the bomb.  It features 14 neutral shades (half matte, half shimmer) and a handy guide to help you get the perfect looks for your eye shape.  It also comes with a handy dual-ended brush and a Full Exposure Mascara sample so you can really nail the look.
  • StriVectin-AR Advanced Retinol Day Treatment SPF 30 ($109) – Sayonara signs of aging.  This retinol packed cream works hard to fight back against aging without the side effects typically associated with retinol use, because no one likes peeling, redness and sensitivity.  SPF 30 helps to protect the skin while it heals.
  • Eve Lom Age Defying Smoothing Treatment ($160) – Another product guaranteed to make nice with your skin, these capsules harness the powers of hexapeptide which helps to delay ageing while reducing line and wrinkle depth.  Another key ingredient, Tocotrienol, protects against free radicals and UV rays.  Talk about a powerhouse product!
  • Bioderma Photoderm Moisturising Tanning Spray ($19.95) – Since we all know tanning is a big no-no, sunless tanners are the way to go for a golden glow.  This tanning mist instantly dries and gradually develops into a warm, streak-free tan.
  • Bioderma Atoderm Lèvres Moisturising Stick ($6.95) –  This is the solution to your dry lip problems.  Shea butter and Vitamin E work hard to repair and restore moisture to your lips so they will be smooth, soft and lipstick ready in no time!
  • Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush ($175) – Guys, do I really need to say anything about this?  I have infinite love for Clarisonic, and once you’ve given this bad boy a try you will too.  It’s a skin saviour and, in my personal opinion, an absolute must-have.  Give it a go and smoother, brighter, clearer skin will be all yours.

Sounds like a pretty fantastic prize, does it not?  Well, it can be yours if you enter.  Good luck!

Murale, Murale spring 2014, murale by shoppers drug mart

If you’re a beauty lover living in or around one of Canada’s major cities (Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver), chances are you’ve made it to a Murale store – or at least heard of it/browsed online.  Shopper’s Drug Mart’s super stylish big sister, Murale is an amazing beauty destination, with modern and beautiful displays and all of the latest beauty must-haves.  I was able to stop in at a spring preview a little while ago and wanted to share some of my favourites from the newest spring launches which are showing up in Murale stores now.

Bioderma Photoderm Self Tanning Spray, Bioderma, Bioderma Photoderm, bioderma murale, murale spring 2014

Bioderma Photoderm Moisturising Tanning Spray ($19.95, available April 2014) – I’m sure most of you have heard of Bioderma before.  Their micellar water is the stuff a beauty blogger’s dreams are made of, which I’m sure gives you an idea of why I’m so excited for this self-tanner.  If this follows in the footsteps of the cleansing water, I can only imagine how well this will perform.  As a pale gal, I’ve always been one to shy away from self-tanners – I have no desire to become a streaky, orange mess – but am definitely going to be giving this one a try.

clarins double serum, clarins double serum complete age control concentrate, clarins spring 2014, clarins serum, clarins murale, murale spring 2014

Clarins Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate ($113, available April 2014) – This new intense serum, containing 20 different plant extracts, works deep down on the cellular and tissue levels of the skin to restore youth and vibrancy.

Clarisonic Mia 2, Clarisonic Murale, Murale spring 2014, clarisonic

Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush ($175, available April 2014) – Yes!  The Clarisonic is coming to Murale, which is amazing news.  I’m obsessed with my Aria.  My skin has never felt better and I’ve seen big changes since I’ve started using it.  Well, the Clarisonic family will be even more accessible than ever once it hits Murale shelves.  Oh, and did I mention Shoppers Optimum points??

Deborah Lippman Maniac, Deborah Lippman 80s Rewind, deborah lippman summer 2014, deborah lippman murale

Deborah Lippmann 80s Rewind Collection ($20 ea, available May 2014), Maniac pictured above – Oh, how I love me some bold, bright colours.  The upcoming Deborah Lippmann 80s Rewind collection is exactly what you would expect – colourful and non-apologetic.  And with shades that have names like Don’t Stop Believing, Video Killed the Radio Star and Walking on Sunshine, how could you go wrong?

Nest Midnight Fleur, Nest fragrance, Nest Murale, Nest fragrance Murale, Murale spring 2014

Nest Eau de Parfum ($118, now available) – The three EDPs now available at Murale are very unique.  The beautifully dark, decorated bottles definitely stand out, while the fragrance blends in each take on different moods.  The Midnight Fleur Eau de Parfum (pictured above) is a sultry scent that combines exotic woods, patchouli and black amber with notes of night-blooming jasmine and vanilla orchid.
