Winter really seems to be dragging on, doesn’t it? We’ve had a pretty cold, snowy season this year and it’s been a little harsh, especially after the past few years which have been a bit lighter on the winter side. We had a tease of spring here a few days ago with some balmy 17 degree weather, which was immediately followed up by 1 degree the next day.

I’m “patiently” waiting for the warmer weather to hit, and in the meantime I’m trying to keep my wardrobe a bit on the lighter, fun side to help me make it through the last push of winter. I’m crushing on pink pieces and sweaters that are lighter but still cozy. Check out my picks for the sweaters that will at least help you feel a bit better about making it through the next little bit of cold weater.

Ruffled sleeves and pearls? Oh yes. This pearl beaded jumper ($28 CAD) is fun, girly and will definitely brighten your mood.

Is there anything better than a getaway with some of your best girlfriends? Maybe, if it includes a stay at a spa like the one we had a few weeks back. A few of my fave blogger babes (Jenelle, Sandra, Zeba & Eleni) took a trip up to Ste Anne’s Spa in Grafton, Ontario, for a luxurious and relaxing overnight stay. Take a look:

We were treated like queens during our entire stay – the staff at Ste Anne’s Spa is always ready to help and very attentive, the food was delicious, and the spa treatments are to die for. I enjoyed the contouring mud stone wrap, which was a combination of a little bit of everything – hot stone massage, mud wrap and foot/scalp/chest massage. We also spent a lot of time in the outdoor pools and the eucalyptus steam room. The spa is gorgeous and the facilities are really well cared for. They even have snack & drink stations set up to replenish yourself during your stay.

During our visit, we stayed in one of Ste Anne’s beautiful cottages, Vista Lago. The place was beautiful and sleeps 4-8 people comfortably, with 4 bedrooms (2 king beds, 2 queens), a beautiful living room, kitchen and hot tub. It even included a conference room, making this a great option for a work retreat. Our cottage was a quick 5 minute drive from the spa, and they have a shuttle service available to take you back and forth if needed.

Another thing I have to touch on is the food. We were able to enjoy high tea, breakfast and lunch at the on-site restaurant, and everything was fantastic. They had delicious menu options which we all enjoyed, and they were extremely accommodating of the dietary restrictions that we had in our group (think gluten-free, nut allergies and vegetarian options). The best part of it all had to be the private chef meal that we enjoyed in our cottage on our first day. Is there anything better than sipping wine with your friends and staying cozy in your pyjamas while someone else cooks for you? I don’t think so.

Overall, we had an amazing time at Ste Anne’s Spa and I will definitely be going back. I think this would be perfect for a bachelorette or birthday party with a group of friends who want to relax and unwind, or a getaway with that special someone. Have you ever been to Ste Anne’s Spa?

All aboard the dry shampoo train! I’ve relied on this stuff for years to help perk my mane up when it’s feeling a little dirty or flat for a few reasons:

  1. Dying my hair red means that the colour fades pretty quickly. Less washing = longer lasting colour.
  2. Sometimes I’m just too damn lazy to put in the time and effort to wash, dry and style my hair.
  3. I occasionally don’t feel like getting out of bed when my alarm goes off.
  4. I really like how my hair has been styled and want to keep it going, but need a little boost.

It’s an amazing time saver and really comes through when you don’t have time to wash & style your hair before heading out the door. Today I’m sharing what I think is the best way to use dry shampoo (and a few of my faves below).

Now that you’ve learned about the best way to use it, take a look at a few of my favourites:

Another day, another snowfall. We’re expecting another 10-15 cm of snow here today and I have to work this evening so I’m reallyyyyy hoping that I don’t end up having to dig my car out at the end of my shift. My reprieve from the frostiness outside that is winter? These new NYX Love You So Mochi Palettes, which are fun, bright and bubbly, which might not entirely make sense (but trust me, it does).

Inspired by the Japanese treat, the NYX Love You So Mochi palettes each contain 10 silky, bouncy (yes, bouncy) shadows. I’ve gotta say, they really pack a punch. Most of the shades, especially the shimmers, have incredible pigmentation and staying power. The lighter shades take a bit more, and the two glitter shades in the Sleek and Chic palette could be a bit stronger, but the rest of them really blew me away.

I love the texture of these; they glide really nicely on the skin, stay true to their colour and are really showy. Of the two palettes, I have to say that the Sleek and Chic version really caught my attention after swatching and wear. The colours are gorgeous and flow so seamlessly together. If you like to play around with colour, you’ll adore the Electric Pastels palette with its fun pinks, blues and a kickass yellow.

The NYX Love You So Mochi palettes have great texture – the shadows have a bouncy feel to them and they feel silky upon applying, gliding smoothly onto the skin and blending in really nicely. I find they set really well and have quite a bit of staying power, lasting for quite a while without a need to reapply or boost.

(I’m going to apologize for the rough texture of my skin here – it’s gotten better, but I was dealing with this really fantastic rash for a little while – yeah, gross)

Seriously though, after seeing these swatches how could you not want to give the Sleek and Chic palette a try? The colours are so heavenly and I’ve worn this several times now for a warm look as you can see below.

What do you think of the shades in the NYX Love You So Mochi palettes? Will you be picking either up? Which one is your favourite?
