Day of the Dead in Mexico City | Travel

Have you ever traveled somewhere different to take in a cultural experience? This past October/November, that’s exactly what I did. I had a chance to head down south to experience the Day of the Dead in Mexico City, and what a trip it was.

Watch the video above to get a good look at what we did while we were away!

The Day of the Dead in Mexico City is really an incredible experience. We had a chance to go backstage before the parade to take a look at all of the preparations and I couldn’t believe how much work goes into it – between the costumes, the makeup and the floats, it’s quite the production. And even better than that was seeing it all come together on the street, with crowds of people coming together to enjoy.

The Diana Restaurant provided a great vantage point from above, but getting down on the street and immersing ourselves in the crowd gave an even better experience. You can feel the excitement from everyone around you and become part of the festivities. It truly was an experience to remember.

And now for a little bit of trivia: Did you know that the parade didn’t exist until after it was shown in the James Bond film Spectre?
