Update: Take a look at my full-face Burt’s Bees Beauty look!
For 30 years, Burt’s Bees has been taking care of bodies from head-to-toe for 30 years now; the line has been a staple in many of our cupboards for years, with their body care products & lip balms helping to provide natural, good for you care. Over the past few years, they’ve started dipping their toes into products that are a bit more beauty-centric, and January marks the start of something new – the Burt’s Bees Beauty line, full of natural makeup products that cover all of your essential beauty needs.
They’re starting off by launching 7 products in a range of shades: mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner, brow pencils, liquid foundation, powder foundation, blush and glossy lipsticks, with more shades & products to come in the future. All of the items range from 98.9% – 100% (most in the 100% area) natural, and all are free of parabens, phthalates, SLS, petrolatum, talc, synthetic fragrances and silicones. There’s just something so reassuring about knowing what you’re putting on your delicate skin. I had a chance to meet up with the Burt’s Bees team a couple of months ago to learn about the line and it was really refreshing to hear about the ingredients that go into making these.
I love how they stayed true to their roots and kept the honeycomb motif throughout the packaging; the face products & eyeshadows are all housed in honeycomb-shaped compacts, while you’ll notice it sprinkled throughout the rest of the packaging and even imprinted on the powders.
Anyways, I know you’re itching to learn more about what you’ll find in the collection, so read on to learn more about the products and see below for swatches! I’ll also be uploading a video to YouTube next week showing you a full face look using these Burt’s Bees Beauty products.
For the eyes, Burt’s Bees has really covered their bases with this initial launch. You have a little bit of everything, with shadows, liner, brows and mascara all included in the lineup. Their eyeshadows come in sets of three shades, all of which are mineral-infused and safe enough to use on sensitive eyes. The shades are really beautiful – four different palettes available – and work nicely together to create a gorgeous eye look. I’ve been loving Countryside Lavender but really want to get my hands on Blooming Desert, which has a gorgeous coppery shade. To go along with the shadows, they’ve also introduced three fade-resistant eyeliners, which are available in Midnight Gray, Soft Black and Warm Brown. They’re smooth and soft and glide on nicely to create a beautiful line.
To finish off your eye look, the Nourishing Mascara in Classic Black and Black Brown is the perfect next step. This mascara helps to lengthen the eyelashes and contains Jojoba Oil to help nourish while you wear. This mascara is, again, great for anyone with sensitive eyes and those of us who wear contacts.
Finally, of course, they couldn’t forget about the brows. Available in blonde and brunette, these pencils fill in the brows with soft colour; the formula is almost powdery, making it perfect for application & then a brush through to disperse and give a more natural finish.
For the face, Burt’s Bees Beauty has a few options that will help to give your skin a healthy, natural look. They’ve created two different foundations and a powder blush for a gorgeous complexion. One of my favourite products, the Goodness Glows Liquid Makeup (available in 12 shades), is really one of the stars of the line. This medium-full coverage foundation is light on the skin and surprisingly moisturizing; no cakiness here and you can definitely build the coverage to a level that you want. It has a bit of a dewy finish that really does leave your skin with a nice glow.
To go along with this, they’ve also created a Mattifying Powder Foundation (available in 6 shades), which helps to control shine and, again, offers light-medium buildable coverage. It has a really soft, matte finish on the skin, and I find it actually works really well as a setting powder after using the liquid foundation if you prefer more of a matte finish.
To add a little colour and warm up your face, you can reach for the powder blush (available in 3 shades), created with bamboo & honey and infused with minerals for a healthy-looking glow. It’s definitely buildable and I find applies seamlessly, blending in really nicely.
In the past couple of years, Burt’s Bees has definitely seen success with the introduction of coloured lip products. This year, they decided to add more to their lipstick lineup with these new Glossy Lipsticks, available in six pink & nude shades. They’ve been created with moringa oil and red raspberry seed oil to provide nourishment to the lips. They feel really nice on, with fairly light colour and a slightly glossy finish.
Will you be giving any of the natural makeup from the Burt’s Bees Beauty line a try?
