I’ve got good news and bad news (well, for me anyways). The good news: I’m heading to Costa Rica in a month to spend a couple of weeks with my parents. The bad news: At this point in the year, I’m as pale as they come, which means I’m definitely going to stand out on the beach for all of the wrong reasons. What? You’ve never seen a ghost on the beach before?

Lucky for me, Benefit’s newest offerings are exactly what I need to blend in while I learn to surf sans sun damage. The cult fave benefit Hoola Matte Bronzing Powder has been joined by two new additions – Dew The Hoola and Hoola Zero Tanlines – along with a plush bronzing & contouring brush to make getting that healthy golden glow even easier than ever.

First up, Dew The Hoola ($36 CAD)goes hand in hand with the original bronzer.  This creamy liquid bronzer is sheer enough to wear all over, but can be turned up a notch by applying the Hoola bronzing powder over top for the perfect sun-kissed look (how I’ve been wearing it) It also works great for contouring – apply a little in the areas you want to contour and blend in. You can layer this for a darker look as needed.  It blends in really well – I like to apply with my fingers and blend in with a sponge – and looks natural.

Now of course, I can’t go walking around with a tan face and pasty everything else, which is where Hoola Zero Tanlines ($39 CAD) comes in. This allover body bronzer helps to add a natural looking tan to, well, everywhere. This bronzer, which is gel-like in consistency, buffs into the skin really nicely, and is sheer enough that even someone like me can get away with wearing it. It can be easily layered to deepen colour (I’m good with one layer), and application is easy thanks to the sponge applicator that comes hidden in the tubes hula skirt. Squeeze a bit of product on the sponge and buff into the skin in circular motions for perfect application. As far as waterproof goes, it does seem to hold up pretty well through water exposure, though I would steer away from scrubbing or rubbing your skin with a towel afterwards – instead, pat your skin dry. You may want to reapply a little as needed afterwards as well.

And the original bronzing powder ($36 CAD) couldn’t be left out, because that just wouldn’t be fair, right? Benefit is also launching this gorgeous bronzing & contouring brush ($31 CAD), complete with a bamboo-esque look. This domed brush is plush, full and soft, making it perfect for  both swift bronzer application or effortless contouring.
