I know I’m not the only one who likes to play around with my look a little. Trying out different colours and styles is always fun. It gives you a chance to explore what you like, which is always fun. Of course, when it comes to experimenting with hair I feel like it becomes a totally different story. It’s not as easy to try different colours or a different haircut because these things are a bit more permanent. It’s one thing to try blue mascara, which easily washes off afterwards – permanently dying your hair blue is a whole other story!
This is why I’m so happy that Garnier recently came out with a fun way to play around with colour – without the permanent results. Garnier Color Stylers ($10.49 CAD) give you the chance to add a little (or a lot!) of big, bold colour to your mane without having to worry that you may not be committed to the shade afterwards! Available in 5 shades (Pink Pop, Blue Burst, Purple Mania, Red Temptation and Bronze Attitude), this intense wash-out colour gives you the chance to experiment with different colours, trends and styles with no commitment. This works for me! I love that you can rock hot pink strands one day and brilliant purple the next… You can even match your locks to your outfit!
The Garnier Color Stylers couldn’t be easier to use. Shake up the bottle to make sure the product is properly mixed up, squeeze some of the liquid onto your finger tips (while wearing the included gloves, of course) and apply to your hair. Let it dry (I like to blow dry to speed this up) and be sure to run a brush through afterwards. The hair can be a little stiff once dried, so brushing through softens it up and helps it to flow better. Be sure to wear a towel over your shoulders when applying the product so you don’t end up getting any on your clothing! My favourite part is that application is completely up to you! Create a colourful ombré, add some bold highlights, or hide some streaks underneath that sneakily peek out. The colour only lasts through a couple of washes, so you can change it up at any time.
I decided to try out the Purple Mania shade with my red hair – I felt that the contrast would be really fun! The colour actually came through really bright on my hair. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how well it would show up and I was really impressed! I decided to add it to random chunks of hair so the colour would show through when I curled it afterwards. I zapped it with the blow dryer and it dried really quickly so I could brush it out and add some curl. My mom wanted to give it a try as well and decided that the Pink Pop shade would be the perfect addition to her blonde hair. I decided to throw a little Purple Mania in with this to give it a “unicorn” look. For her hair, we decided to colour everything on the lower layer so it would peek out underneath. The effect was awesome! I did notice that the colour lasted longer on her hair, which I would have expected on blonde.
I’ve had a lot of fun playing with the new Garnier Color Stylers – I’m thinking of trying Blue Burst next to see how a shade that contrasts even more with my hair looks!
