This past Friday enough to attend Mikhael Kale’s runway show to kick off World Mastercard Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2014 with two of my BBFs (Best Blogger Friends!), Jenelle and Sandra.  The collection, inspired by Mary Reid’s geometrically rendered portraits, oozed cool, with moto jackets, intricate cutouts and insteresting “padding” that you need to see with your own eyes to fully appreciate.

“The collection is youthful and young-minded, but not young;  it’s directional. It’s all about technique; the collection needed to go super modern.  It’s very streamlined, not simple, but tightly edited,” says Kale.  “The result is a method we created that utilizes a leather padding technique that bonds mirrored shapes.  Like many of my collections, Spring/Summer 2014 is a culmination of technique, shape and a styling direction.”

Of course, the models couldn’t be sent down the runway without perfect hair, makeup and nails.  Rita Remark created the perfect new-nude mani for Essie, which featured a base of Sand Tropez finished off with an asymmetric tip in Good As Gold.  For hair, Redken’s Cynthia Duplantis gave the models sleek, slicked back hair with a straight finish.  Maybelline’s Grace Lee kept the models looking fresh with dewy skin and a lightly glossed lip.
