Iman Cosmetics

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been playing around with some of the amazing products from the Iman Cosmetics line.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with the brand – it is a cosmetics line created by the gorgeous Iman (seriously, this woman is flawless – if you live under a rock and haven’t heard of her before, I strongly suggest you look her up, and try not to be blown away by the fact that she is 57 and still has better skin than I do). Anyways, let me walk you through a few of my new favourite products.

Yes, BB Cream lovers, rejoice – Iman has introduced her new Skin Tone Evener BB Creme to your world.  I feel like I’m on a never-ending hunt for the next best BB cream, and was really excited to see this one, which recently launched last month.  This BB Creme is available in 6 shades, which makes it so much easier to find the shade best suited to your skin tone than most BB creams.  This BB Creme is said to be for all skin types, with a creamy texture that blends undetectably into the skin.

I was a little worried when I first saw this BB Creme – I wasn’t sure how well it would work with my skin tone, but I was amazed that it blended seamlessly once applied, and it almost seemed to disappear into my skin.  It provides sheer coverage – nothing too heavy, but it definitely does give the skin a more even appearance, and dried very smoothly – very non-greasy.  I love that this has SPF 15 in it – this is really important to me in a BB cream, as it is so important to wear SPF daily to protect the skin.  This BB Creme is a welcome addition to my beauty routine.  It’s lightweight enough that I can wear it daily without looking like I have too much makeup on, but it gives just enough coverage that it helps to hide my imperfections and even out my skin – perfect for hiding redness.

The perfect product to compliment the BB Creme?  This Luxury Translucent Powder.  It is described as a silky, luxury textured powder formula for a sheer, translucent, semi-matte finish.  This powder is very lightweight, and provides nice shine control – I found myself using it throughout the day for touchups when needed, and it is perfect for freshening up your look.  Not only that, but the compact is gorgeous!

I’m a big fan of makeup kits, so this was a nice product to find.  The Adorned Make-Up Kit contains one cheek colour, two eye shadows and two lip shades for a dramatic look.  I found that these shades complimented each other really nicely – my only problem was that one of the eyeshadows and one of the lip colours were a little too sheer for me.  That being said, the darker lip shade was gorgeous – easily my favourite part of this kit.

I love fun, sparkly things, and I love liquid liner – throw them together and you have a winner for me.  These Luxury Liquid Liners come in 4 shades: copper, sapphire, platinum and onyx.  They go on very smoothly – with almost more of a creamy texture than most liquid liners I’ve tried.  The colours are bright and playful, and I love the glittery aspect of them – it gives a little unexpected pop when wearing them!

A couple of nice additions – the Perfect Eye and Perfect Lip Pencils – both of these do exactly what they’re supposed to and apply very easily.  They are highly pigmented which is great for a more dramatic look.

I got to try out a few of Iman’s lip products – Luxury Lip Shimmer, Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick (the first lipstick shade) and Luxury Lip Stain (the second and third in the second picture).    I found the lipglosses to provide a lot of colour, which I loved – I’m a big fan of bold lip products, and I really liked how they were so pigmented.  They weren’t too sticky but had a lot of shine.  The lipstick had to be my favourite – again, it was very pigmented, perfect for a bright lip, and the formula was very creamy and long-lasting.  The lip stains were nice as well.  They didn’t pack as much of a colour punch, but were nice and light and perfect for daily use, with a light stain which lasted quite long.

Have you ever tried Iman products?  If you’re interested in trying, they can be found in select Sears stores across the country.

Good to see you are still blogging!

Iman’s line has been around for a while. When it was first launched it was market as a line for “women of colour”. It looks like she has expanded the range to work with all skin types.
