WHAT’S IN YOUR MAKEUP BAG: My Essentials

Welcome to the newest segment on here – What’s In Your Makeup Bag?  This is your chance to find out what’s in the makeup bags of the people whos know which products are the best of the best.  So read on and make notes.  To start off, I’m going to be showing you the items I can’t live without, soon I’ll be showing you the favourite products of some amazing beauty bloggers!

So, here it is – these are my essential products, my day-to-day go tos.  A great face starts with the perfect base, and I’ve got a few products which help me get just that.  I start off with Revlon Colorstay Under Eye concealer.  This helps to banish those evil dark circles, especially after a late night. After that, it’s foundation time.  My weapon of choice is CoverGirl NatureLuxe Liquid Silk Foundation (yeah, try saying that 5 times fast…) – it provides great coverage without being too cakey or overbearing, perfect for every day use.  To ensure even coverage and avoid streaks, I use the foundation brush from The Body Shop. I finish it off with CG Fresh Complexion concealer to help cover up any leftover signs of dark circles, pesky blemishes, and anything else that needs a little extra help to hide. Of course, I need blush to give my face a little more life and brighten up, and I’m a fan of CoverGirl Cheekers blush – I use shade 154 Deep Plum – not too dark, not too pink, it just adds a nice hint of colour.

After the complexion perfection basics, my essentials tend to focus on eyes.  For the base colour of my eyeshadow, I usually use L’Oreal Color Infaillible eyeshadow in 002 Hourglass Beige – this shade has a nice shimmery smooth colour, and when applied to the inner corners of your eyes as well I find that it really helps to to brighten them and open them up.  For shading and highlighting, I use the Maybelline Eyes Studio quad in 100 Sunset.  I find that it’s nice for light shading, and isn’t too harsh or dark to wear during the day.  Moving on to eyeliners – I tend to switch up between a pencil and a gel/cream.  My eye pencil of choice is Bare Escentual’s Buxom Insider Eyeliner in Chocolate Citrine (Brown isn’t as harsh as black, so I use this for a more toned down look).  And for a gel/cream?  I honestly can’t say enough about Annabelle’s Smudge Paint – I’m completely obsessed (you can check out my previous post about it here).  It’s smoky, sexy and so easy to apply.  Last but not least, we’ve got mascara – the one product I absolutely cannot leave the house without wearing.  For daytime wear, I swear by L’Oreal’s Telescopic Carbon Black mascara.  It lengthens and separates, creating gorge lashes that last all day.

So there you have it, my essential products.  Have you tried any of these?  What’s in your makeup bag?
